Digital design, milling and 3D printing

Our laboratory includes two dental milling machines and two 3D printers. These tools serve different purposes: milling shapes restorations from solid dental materials, including zirconia, while 3D printing builds restorations and appliances from digital designs.

Attention to the details you see and feel

A crown needs more than the right color. Before it is placed, your dentist checks its fit, its contact with neighboring teeth and the way it meets the opposing teeth when you bite.

For a smile makeover involving several teeth, planning also addresses tooth shape, length and proportions. Photographs, scans or impressions, and bite records help guide that work. When appropriate, a mock-up or temporary restorations provide an opportunity to assess the proposed changes before the final restorations are completed. Your feedback helps guide the refinements. Does an on-site lab mean same-day treatment?

Our laboratory can design and fabricate temporary crowns in the office on the same day in suitable cases. However, an on-site lab does not mean every final restoration is completed in one visit. A straightforward crown often involves two main appointments, and more extensive treatment may require additional stages. Tribeca Advanced Dentistry

For All-on-4 and other full-arch implant treatment, suitable patients may receive fixed temporary teeth on the day of surgery. Those are different from the final bridge, which is made after sufficient healing. The treatment plan and clinical conditions—not simply the availability of laboratory equipment—determine the timing. Meet Dr. Azita

Dr. Azita Elyaderani graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City. When should your child first see a dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit when the first tooth appears and no later than your child’s first birthday. You do not need to wait until all the baby teeth have come in. AAPD

Before the appointment, keep your explanation simple and positive. Reading a children’s book about a dental visit can help introduce the experience. A familiar stuffed animal may also provide reassurance. Let the dental team introduce the equipment and explain each step rather than trying to describe every possible procedure beforehand. Preventive care as your child grows

Many children benefit from a dental checkup approximately every six months, but the right schedule depends on their individual oral health. Regular visits allow the dentist to monitor development and recommend preventive care suited to your child. AAPD

Our pediatric services include examinations, cleanings and dental sealants, along with tooth-colored fillings and children’s crowns when needed. We also monitor tooth spacing and bite development and discuss concerns about loose teeth, early tooth loss or possible orthodontic needs. At home, brush your child’s teeth twice daily with fluoride toothpaste. Use a rice-grain-sized smear for children younger than three and a pea-sized amount for ages three through six. Help with brushing and encourage children to spit out excess toothpaste rather than swallow it. MouthHealthy

DBF Studio built our original office in 2014. In 2022, we worked with the team again to create our larger, 4,200-square-foot office, with nine operatories, an on-site dental laboratory and a second reception area.

A partnership spanning two projects

Our practice at 23 Warren Street in Tribeca brings together everyday dental care and advanced restorative and aesthetic treatment. Our prosthodontist, Dr. Olga Malkin, provides care ranging from crowns and veneers to dental implants and full-mouth reconstruction.

The office brings that range of care into a shared setting, with space for welcoming patients, providing treatment and supporting the work that happens behind the scenes.

DBF Studio, led by principal Simon Bunyatov, is a Manhattan-based firm specializing in medical and dental construction. Working from Dr. Malkin’s vision, the team completed the build-out of our original office in 2014 and returned for the larger 2022 project.

A bright, welcoming first impression

The reception area sets the tone with white surfaces, colorful seating and glass that opens up views through the space. Orange chairs and greenery introduce warmth, while the illuminated Tribeca Advanced Dentistry skyline logo gives the room a recognizable focal point.

In its project portfolio, DBF Studio highlights the office’s white cabinetry, colorful dental chairs and 42-foot glass wall. Frosted glass adds visual separation while retaining the light, open character of the interior.

The second reception area was another feature of the 2022 project, extending the space available to welcome patients within the larger office.

Nine treatment rooms, one consistent design

The nine operatories—dental treatment rooms—continue the same approach. White cabinetry, uncluttered work surfaces and blue or neutral accents give the rooms a consistent appearance without making every space identical.

The design extends beyond the reception desk: cabinetry, equipment and treatment seating are part of a coordinated interior. The result is a practice with a recognizable character from the waiting area through to the clinical rooms.

Space for an on-site dental laboratory

The 2022 office also included an on-site dental laboratory, making room for an important part of our restorative work within the practice itself.

Today, our on-site dental laboratory brings together digital design, milling and 3D printing to create custom restorations. Having our clinical and laboratory teams in the same office supports direct collaboration on details such as tooth shape, shade, fit and adjustments.

That connection is particularly relevant to crowns, veneers, implant restorations and more extensive reconstruction. The laboratory is not simply an additional room; it is part of how our team coordinates the planning and fabrication of restorations.

Any dental work from simple such as teeth whitening to sophisticate such as dental implant placement can be thought as “cosmetic dentistry”. American Dental Association, the oldest and most prestigious association for American dentists, doesn’t recognize “cosmetic dentist” as a dental specialty. There is no residency for “cosmetic dentistry” post-dental school where a new graduate can receive specific training unlike those available for such specialties such as periodontists, prosthodontists, endodontists, orthodontists, and oral surgeons. We think periodontists, prosthodontists, and orthodontists come closest to the definition often ascribed to cosmetic dentistry. All these three specialties require three years of additional training. Periodontists such as Dr. Moldovan, are experts in treating gum (periodontal) disease, prosthodontists, such as Dr. Malkin, are experts in the restoration and replacement of teeth, and orthodontists treat improper bites and crooked teeth. Our Tribeca Advanced Dentistry New York office have both periodontist and prosthodontists who often work as a team to treat complex cases such as an all-on-4 procedure to replace diseased and broken teeth and immediately load dental implants. Our prosthodontist, Dr. Malkin spent 3 years in her specialty in West Los Angeles VA Hospital, our periodontist, Dr. Moldovan continued her studies in UCLA’s post-graduate periodontics department, and our endodontist, Dr. Fleischer was a chief resident at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

For our equipment, in Tribeca Advanced Dentistry New York, we use a 3 dental imaging scanner for dental treatment planning by a prosthodontist, a microscope for endodontist, and lasers for periodontal treatment. While this modern equipment adds to the cost of our procedures, we believe it’s essential to the dental treatment success.

Finally, we have a long-term partnership with Beverly Hills Dental Lab located in Beverly Hills, CA for most of our critical dental lab work, which we believe to be one of the best in the country. We use almost exclusively Nobel Biocare dental implants and other critical parts, an acknowledged leader with over 30 years of clinical studies supporting its dental products. Their work and products are in general more expensive but we feel it’s absolutely worth the money as good dental work should last.

Yet, we also believe that the prices should be affordable enough for the middle class and accept most of the good PPO insurances fee schedules. We would rather have a practice with many happy patients who feel they received excellent dental care than try to sell the most expensive dental treatment.
