It may seem like a weird thing to tell your dentist if you are prone to yeast infection, but it’s actually really important considering how many women report an increase in yeast infections when taking antibiotics.
This is often due to an overgrowth of Candida albicans, which is an opportunistic yeast that grows out of control if antibiotics kill the good bacteria that normally regulates the overgrowth of candida.
If you feel that you are predisoposed to yeast infections, make sure to ask your dentist or physician to prescribe you with a single dose of antifungal medication called fluconazole (Diflucan) to take orally when you start your antibiotic regiment.
