Meet Dr. Azita, Our Pediatric Dentist in Tribeca
Finding a dentist for your child is about more than scheduling a checkup. You want someone who can explain what your child needs, answer your questions and help them feel comfortable.
At Tribeca Advanced Dentistry, our pediatric program, Tribeca Little Smiles, provides dental care for infants, children and teenagers with Dr. Azita Elyaderani, our board-certified pediatric dentist. Tribeca Advanced Dentistry
Meet Dr. Azita
Dr. Azita Elyaderani graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and also serves as a part-time clinical attending in Harlem Hospital’s Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Tribeca Advanced Dentistry

Pediatric dentists complete two to three years of specialized training after dental school. Their focus is the oral health of infants, children and adolescents, including children with special healthcare needs. AAPD
When should your child first see a dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit when the first tooth appears and no later than your child’s first birthday. You do not need to wait until all the baby teeth have come in. AAPD
Baby teeth matter even though they eventually fall out. They help children chew and speak, and they guide the arrival of permanent teeth. Early visits also give parents an opportunity to discuss brushing, feeding habits and cavity prevention. MouthHealthy
Has your child already passed their first birthday without a dental visit? It is not too late to get started. The next step is simply to arrange an appointment. My Children’s Teeth
What happens at the first appointment?
The first visit is a chance for your child to get to know our team and for us to learn about them. We review their medical history, medications and any concerns you have about their teeth or previous dental experiences.
Parents are welcome to stay with their child during the initial examination. We explain what we are doing in age-appropriate language and encourage questions. Please tell us about anything that could help us make the visit more comfortable for your child. Tribeca Little Smiles
Helping your child feel comfortable
Before the appointment, keep your explanation simple and positive. Reading a children’s book about a dental visit can help introduce the experience. A familiar stuffed animal may also provide reassurance. Let the dental team introduce the equipment and explain each step rather than trying to describe every possible procedure beforehand. Preventive care as your child grows
Many children benefit from a dental checkup approximately every six months, but the right schedule depends on their individual oral health. Regular visits allow the dentist to monitor development and recommend preventive care suited to your child. AAPD
Our pediatric services include examinations, cleanings and dental sealants, along with tooth-colored fillings and children’s crowns when needed. We also monitor tooth spacing and bite development and discuss concerns about loose teeth, early tooth loss or possible orthodontic needs. Treatment recommendations depend on the examination, not simply your child’s age. Tribeca Advanced Dentistry
At home, brush your child’s teeth twice daily with fluoride toothpaste. Use a rice-grain-sized smear for children younger than three and a pea-sized amount for ages three through six. Help with brushing and encourage children to spit out excess toothpaste rather than swallow it. MouthHealthy
